Pricing questions
The ones we get asked most
How much does a repair cost?
Diagnosis and quotes are free, always. Software work typically runs $80–180, hardware repairs $120–350 depending on parts, data recovery from $150, and Wi-Fi work $90–250. You get a fixed price before anything starts, and there is no charge at all if we cannot fix it.
Do you offer same-day repairs?
Yes — 97% of jobs are resolved the same day. We carry screens, batteries, SSDs and power supplies, so most repairs finish in one visit.
Which suburbs do you cover?
Cranbourne, Clyde and Clyde North, Berwick, Narre Warren, Dandenong, Frankston, Carrum Downs, Patterson Lakes and Chelsea, plus the suburbs around each of them. No call-out surcharge anywhere on that list.
Is there a warranty?
Every repair carries a 30-day warranty. If the same fault returns inside that window we come back at no charge.
What decides the price
Every job is quoted as a fixed price before any work starts, so the number you agree to is the number you pay. There is no hourly rate, because charging by the hour rewards the slowest technician in the room and leaves you carrying the risk of a difficult job.
Within the ranges above, four things move the price:
- Parts
- The largest variable by a distance. A screen for a common laptop costs a fraction of one for a thin premium model, and we quote the actual part rather than a category average.
- Whether it is software or hardware
- A machine that will not boot might need thirty minutes of repair work or a new drive. We find out which before quoting, not after.
- How much data is involved
- Transfers and recoveries scale with volume. A 200GB photo library takes longer to move safely than a folder of documents.
- Property size, for network jobs
- A two-bedroom unit and a double-storey home on a large block are genuinely different jobs, which is why Wi-Fi work is a range rather than a fixed figure.
What is included in every job
- A free diagnosis, whether or not you go ahead with the repair
- A fixed price agreed before work starts — no variation without asking you first
- A 30-day warranty on the work; if the same fault returns we come back at no charge
- No call-out fee anywhere in our service area
- No charge at all if we cannot fix it
Why there is no hourly rate
An hourly rate makes the customer carry the risk of an unfamiliar fault. If a job turns out to be fiddly, you pay for our learning curve. That is backwards, and it also makes it impossible to tell you what something will cost before we start.
A fixed price puts that risk where it belongs. If a repair takes twice as long as expected, that is our problem, and it is a strong incentive for us to diagnose properly rather than trying things.
When we will tell you not to repair it
Repairs stop making sense when faults stack. A failing drive on an otherwise sound laptop is worth fixing. A failing drive plus a swollen battery plus a cracked hinge is not — by the time all three are addressed you are near the price of a replacement and still have an old screen.
We will say so plainly rather than quoting for it, and we are happy to tell you what to buy instead even though there is nothing in it for us.
Payment
Payment is on completion, once you are satisfied the fault is resolved. Card and bank transfer both work. For business customers we can invoice on normal terms — just mention it when booking.
