Computer repairs in Narre Warren

A mix of family machines and small businesses above the shops. Same-day is the norm.

We service Narre Warren, Narre Warren South, Hampton Park, Fountain Gate.

What we see most in Narre Warren

Shared family computers that collect junk software, and small retail setups where the till PC and the Wi-Fi are on the same tired router.

Suburbs we cover here

Narre Warren, Narre Warren South, Hampton Park, Fountain Gate — all at the same price, with no call-out fee.

Two kinds of call, from two kinds of customer

Narre Warren splits neatly between household work and small retail. The Fountain Gate precinct and the strips around it mean a lot of our work here is for businesses running two or three computers, an EFTPOS terminal and a wireless network that all grew organically over a decade. The rest is family homes with one shared computer that everybody uses and nobody maintains.

They fail in opposite ways. Business setups fail because something was added without being planned. Family machines fail because software accumulates until nothing has room to run.

The shared family computer

A computer used by four people collects four people's software. Browser toolbars from a download that bundled them, three different PDF readers, a game launcher nobody uses, two antivirus programs fighting each other, and a startup list thirty items long. Individually harmless; together they are why it takes four minutes to reach the desktop.

A clean-up is $80–140 and is genuinely worth doing before you conclude the machine is finished. We remove what should not be there, cut the startup list to what you actually use, check the drive is healthy, and leave one antivirus running properly rather than three running badly.

Small business setups above and around the shops

The typical Narre Warren small-business network was never designed — it accreted. A router from the original phone provider, a wireless printer added later, a second computer for the bookkeeper, the EFTPOS terminal on the same Wi-Fi as the customer network, and a smart TV in the waiting area that someone connected using the same password as everything else.

That works until it does not, and the failure is usually either the till dropping out at the worst possible moment or a security problem where a guest device can see the machine with all the business records on it.

What we actually change

  1. Split guest Wi-Fi from the business network, so customers cannot reach your systems
  2. Put the till and the payment terminal on a connection that will not drop when the shop is busy
  3. Get the printer on a fixed address so it stops disappearing every few weeks
  4. Set up a backup that runs without anybody remembering to run it

A tidy-up of that kind runs $150–250 for most shops. Urgent business faults get priority — if your till is down, ring rather than booking online.

Printers, and why they are like this

We get more printer calls in Narre Warren than anywhere else, mostly from small businesses. The usual cause is that the printer was set up on whatever address the router handed it that day, and the router has since handed it a different one. The computer is still looking at the old address, so the printer is "offline" while sitting there switched on.

It is a ten-minute fix done properly — a fixed address so the printer stays where the computer expects it — and one of the cheapest jobs we do at $80–120. It is also the one people put up with for longest, which is a shame.

Where we cover

Narre Warren, Narre Warren South, Hampton Park and the Fountain Gate area, all at the same price with no call-out fee. Business jobs can usually be scheduled before or after trading hours if being down mid-day is not an option.

Questions we get from Narre Warren customers

My printer keeps saying offline even though it is on. Why?

Almost always because the router gave the printer a different network address and the computer is still looking for the old one. Setting a fixed address fixes it permanently — usually a $80–120 job.

Can you separate my customer Wi-Fi from my business computers?

Yes, and it is one of the first things we recommend for any shop. Guest devices should never be able to reach the machine holding your business records. It is part of a $150–250 network tidy-up.

Do I need paid antivirus?

For most households, no. Windows Defender is genuinely good now, and running a second antivirus alongside it usually makes the machine slower without making it safer. We will tell you if your situation is an exception.

Can you come outside trading hours?

Yes. For shops we can usually schedule before opening or after close so you are not down during the day. Urgent faults — a till that will not process payments — get priority, so ring rather than booking online.

Ready to get it sorted?

Call and you'll usually get a diagnosis on the phone. Or book online and we'll confirm within the hour.
